DOES SOMETHING

All of the men and women competing in this year's Olympics in Beijing deserve to be recognized for their outstanding athletic abilities. So, why not give us a little YAY about who you love and why you love them so much?

(Or am I the only one here with a major obsession? :hajadeha:)

Michael Phelps> :elena78: He is a determined, driven man (who goes to University of Michigan :P)... he wants to beat Mark Spitz's record from 1976 and bring home EIGHT gold medals from Beijing. Last night, he broke HIS OWN world record during the 400 IM; taking home his first Gold for 2008. Not only am I obsessed with him because he is living the life I wanted (:lyn: for real!), but because he is doing it better than I would have! :lyn: But, seriously, he is so... just.. *points to sig* :P

Dara Torres. In her career, spanning over 5 olympic games, she has won a total of ten medals. TEN. She swims my strokes, just as Phelps does: Fly and Free; and she's an amazing woman, coming into Beijing at 41 years old, after just having a child. While Michael Phelps is who I wanted to be when I was a teenager, Dara Torres is who I want to strive to be from now on.

*sigh*

Aside from that, I also support Natalie Coughlin, Jessica Hardy and Amanda Beard, Ryan Lochte, Brendan Hansen, Ian Crocker, Mark Gangloff (LEGEND!), Katie Hoff, Christine Magnuson (amazing fly!!), and Peter Vanderkaay.

But not just the Americans, people! I support others as well! Stephanie Rice and Libby Trickett from Australia. Inge Dekker from the Netherlands and Kirsty Coventry from Zimbabwe, and Ioannis Kokkodis from Greece.

*sigh*

Yeah, and that's about all I watch on a strictly obsessive basis. I haven't gotten into the rest, really - just focusing on Phelps and trying not to startle my neighbors from screaming (minus the cursing every other word...) "GO GO GO GO YES YES YES YES GO GO GO! TOUCH THE WALL, GET IN THERE, GO ON! YOU'RE BREASTSTROKE IS SLOW, PUSH ON THE FLY - GO GO GO GO GO!!"

:lyn:

*cough*

You know what's the funniest? No one in Aus watches track, because we don't WIN anything, so all the stations go back to normal programming. xD

That was unbelievable - the entire thing. Jason Lezak is a legend, there's no doubt. Did anyone see the interview afterwards, with the four of them? It was so awesome - they were saying how they wanted to see Michael succeed in his goal. And Michael was speechless, not being able to pick a favorite moment.

It's just so amazing. 16 career metals; 8 gold metals in one olympics. He's SUCH an inspiration. *sigh*

I FINALLY MADE 1000 POSTS

*sigh* Michael Phelps is amazing. He really is. :hearts: Last night I was just so crazy, on the egde of my seat, cheering like crazy. *woohoo* I saw the interview and was just thinking how all of them are incredible. Of course, Michael stands out the most, but they all are amazing. :hearts:

Okay, I haven't talked about the womens all around gymnastics. Everyone had to have watched them, they were so good!! Nastia was AMAZING. Shawn was AMAZING. I'm so glad the two of them got the gold and silver and I'm glad Nastia was the one to get the gold. Shawn was good, but she seemed a little off and Nastia wasn't at all off. She just got good score after good score. But in an interview after, Shawn hadn't even talked to her parents yet! :o I was shocked, it was already a few hours after and she said that she hasn't been able to talk to her parents! Anyway, they both deserved their medals. ^_^

Yay, Michael Phelps! That was amazing. All of his races have been, and I'm sad the swimming is over. It's been fun to watch and to watch him on his journey.

The gymnastics have been great as well. I hate CNN for posting the results of the women's individual events.. I should probably change my homepage during the Olympics, but that was the first spoiler I've seen at least. I've been routing for Shawn Johnson since the trials, but Nastia did such a great job. She definitely deserved the gold.

I'm looking forward to the track now and to more of the soccer. I finally caught a part of a game - Brazil vs. Cameroon (mens). Go Brazil! And the U.S. women are playing Japan tomorrow.. that should be a great game. I love the Olympics!

I FINALLY MADE 1000 POSTS

The other night I was watching TV, when an interview with Michael Phelps came on. All I can say is I fell in love with him more. :hearts: He's just so sweet and is such a family person. He had his mom with him for about 15 minutes and you could just tell he absolutely adores her and appreciates her so much. I actually had no idea that the whole reason why he first started swimming was because when he was a child he was diagnosed with ADHD. Once he stared swimming he just fell in love with it and continued with it through his life. After watching that interview... *sigh* how could anyone not love him? He's just so... sweet! :hearts:
